64th Annual Cranberry Festival!
Follow the Cranberry Road and join us for Cranberry Festival on Sept. 10 - 12, 2010. Unique wares from vendors, great food and good music.
Bandon's Cranberry Festival is held the second weekend in September. It started in 1946 to showcase the local cranberry industry. Bandon has long been known as the Cranberry Capital of Oregon and new bogs are being added every year. While most of the local berries are made into juice concentrate or frozen, some are sold fresh or dried and can be found in our local stores, while still more are made into wine. The parade is held on Saturday morning and grows larger every year, people come as far away as Humboldt County to participate. After the parade, enjoy the many vendors who sell their unique wares.Click for the Cranberry Festival information...
It’s Back; It’s Beauty and It’s Bandon….Oregon Old Bandon Golf Links
Bandon's newest; and oldest golf course returns...Now open!
Impressionists call it beauty for the brush; pro’s see it as a challenge; historians honor it as link to the past and a treasure for the future; families claim it’s all about the fun.As for Troy and Kim Russell, well; they call it home.
Old Bandon Golf Links 9-hole public course, a time-honored place with a brand new face.
There is a reason that in 1927, this special spot was chosen amidst the untapped countryside that caressed the Pacific coastline, a vision that lay where great beauty was beheld in any direction for as far as the eye could see, a vision that originated as Westmost Golf Course (and is still the western-most golf course in the lower 48 states), and for the last 15 years came to be known as Bandon Face Rock Golf Course.
Just look around and you will see what called to the original owners and why that same ambiance and scenery that cascaded echoes throughout history, still rings true today.
And as luck would have it, this magical place fell into the hands of the Russell family, who heard the call and felt the vision to create a spirited outdoor adventure, while still embracing the unique and cherished era of what some consider to be the golden age of golf course architecture.
It’s all about golf, it’s all about family, it’s all about fun, all the time. Troy Russell resurrected the course to capture the old flavor and retain the old-fashion look. Russell has been affiliated with regarded names such as The British Open, The Masters, The US Open, The PGA National Championship, Presidents Cup and The Walker Cup, geographically spanning three continents.
Troy Russell was also instrumental in the development of Bandon Dunes into a world-class resort, home to the Curtis Cup in 2006.
Old Bandon Golf Links is host to a links-style experience that includes nine holes; in good form for seniors and families, but also sports a creek that serpentines 7 holes, and bunkers that create a challenge for even the most tenured golfer.
If you yearn for yesteryear, try a round with antique hickory golf clubs from the 1920’s, or take advantage of this exclusive opportunity to try an 1890’s set with authentic gutta percha balls.
The amenities are new but transcend tradition with Bocce ball, croquet, HD television, pool table, light fare and more…
Old Bandon Golf Links borders the beautiful, well-known and long-established tourist destination; Best Western’s Inn at Face Rock Resort.
There are 9-holes and endless reasons to capture the moment of this season. Memberships to fit your needs. Ask out about a free round of golf for a member of your family.
Bandon Links;
Where the tests meet the green,
Where the west meets the dream
Where families come together
Where memories last forever.
And you know, that kind of feeling just might help your handicap.
Take your best shot, Old Bandon Golf Links, Rated G for Good Times, Good Friends and Great fun.

Check out the Washed Ashore project...
The "Washed Ashore" project aims to awaken the senses of people around the world to the global marine debris tragedy.
As an antidote to despair, and a way toward change, we pick up ocean plastics from Oregon beaches and make art! Our goal in "Washed Ashore" is to engage the public though creating powerful visual art, film, and music that educates and inspires action.A feature-length documentary film, with an original score by singer/songwriter Holly Brook, will follow the progression of one community's engagement in collecting beach plastics and creating large-scale sculptures of the sea life most affected by the discarded marine debris.
Angela Pozzi teaching a workshop.
These towering, aesthetically striking sculptures of 'sea trash' will form a touring art exhibit and series of community workshops, as well as be the basis for an environmental arts curriculum.
Community members of all ages are working together to gather the beach plastics and construct the giant sculptures. The project will also create a huge, walk-through Plastic Gyre: a mobile-like room made with sea plastics that inspires contemplation and education about marine debris and the North Pacific Gyre.
The ultimate hope for "Washed Ashore" is global action. To create a stream of events, discussions and awareness that lead to active solutions. We believe that anyone, anywhere can make a difference!
In order for "Washed Ashore" to have a global impact, we are forming partnerships and seeking substantial funding from grants and donations to reach our goals. The project is sponsored by Artula Institute for Arts and Environmental Education, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The Washed Ashore project is designed and directed by artist Angela Haseltine Pozzi. To view her work inspired by the sea, please visit SeathingsArt.com. Angela's work is on display at Art 101, seven miles South of Bandon. Just look for the purple building!
